Daniel Ruebusch — Clarinet

Daniel Ruebusch started playing clarinet at the age of eleven and has been passionate about music ever since. Now a student at the University of Nevada, Reno, he has served as principal clarinet of both the Nevada Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra. He has performed with the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra and the Reno Chamber Orchestra, and has also been a founding member of two chamber music groups associated with UNR.

In addition to performing, Daniel has been a private music teacher for the past three years and wholeheartedly enjoys helping students reach their musical potential. Throughout this time, he has worked with programs that provide quality music instruction to students at Title I schools across Reno. After graduating, Daniel hopes to become a local band or orchestra director in a Reno public school.

Emma is currently a senior studying bassoon performance at the University of Nevada Reno. Emma began playing the bassoon her freshman year of high school, and has loved the instrument ever since! She has been a private lesson teacher for 3 years, and she has performed locally with the Tahoe Symphony, the Reno Pops Orchestra, the Reno Wind Symphony, and the Tahoe Philharmonic.

Troy Le started playing oboe at the age of sixteen after six years of playing clarinet. His newfound love for the oboe strengthened his bond with music. A student of the University of Nevada, Reno, he has served as a member of the Nevada Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra on oboe and English horn. He has also performed with groups in the northern Nevada area such as the Tahoe Symphony.

Aside from performing, Troy is as passionate with learning as he is teaching. Achieving reed independence in under two months of learning how to make reeds, Troy is an avid reed maker. He has been playing and selling his reeds since January 2025. As an oboist who learned on inconsistent store-bought reeds, he hopes to provide students with reeds that will supplement their instruction.

Ari Stern — Flute

Hi my name is Ari! I am currently a junior at the University of Nevada Reno studying Music Education. I have been playing the flute since I was 9 years old but I’ve been in the music world since I was 3! I have played with the UNR Symphony Orchestra and the UNR Wind Ensemble. This past semester I was the principal flutist of the UNR Orchestra and also one of the winners of the Concerto Competition where I performed movement one of Mozart’s Flute Concerto in D Major.

I love spreading my love of music and helping kids to find that same love of music! I have worked with various students in Reno’s public schools and love helping them realize their potential. Music is such a beautiful thing that anyone has the potential to create and I strive to help youth discover that.

Aidan Winer — Trombone

Aidan Winer started trombone at 14 back in the 5th grade. Now, 11 years later he’s going into his senior year of college preparing for graduate school. He’s a part of five ensembles at UNR, both in Classical and Jazz. Outside of school, he has performed with the Tahoe Symphony and a Chamber-dectet.

Aidan has always loved teaching and helping people. When he joined his high school’s marching band, he quickly saw how much of a difference great mentors could make. The feeling he got when something finally clicked and he realized, “Hey, I can actually do this”— stuck with him. He became driven to help others experience that same sense of growth and confidence.

Since she started learning cello at 10 years old, Sophie Duvall has been an active member of the Northern Nevada music scene. Before college, she played in the Reno Youth Symphony Orchestra, and was principal cellist of the Washoe County Honors Orchestra and Nevada Small School All-State Orchestra. She is currently part of Dr. Dmitri Atapine’s UNR cello studio, the UNR Symphony Orchestra, and several small ensembles while she finishes her Bachelor’s of Music in Classical Performance. When she’s not behind her cello, she advocates for women’s music history through her community radio show, Vignettes, which highlights women composers of the past and present on KWNK 97.7 FM.

Sophie has coached string musicians at WCSD schools for 3 years and has several private students. Her playing and teaching is inspired by many genres, from classical to R&B, from folk to K-pop, and almost anything in between. Sophie hopes her students can find their musical voice within the cello through music that speaks to them, while also training a strong foundation in ergonomic techniques and music theory to help them reach their musical goals.

Juliana started singing in 5th grade, and hasn’t stopped since. She is a Northern Nevada local, and recently graduated with her Bachelor’s of Vocal Performance from the University of Nevada, Reno. There, she was involved in the university choirs as a member and section leader, held both lead and ensemble roles with Nevada Opera Theatre, sang and played guitar with UNR’s Mariachi club, and was actively involved with UNR’s jazz department.

Since graduating, Juliana has obtained her substitute teaching license, has started to offer private voice lessons, and is continuing to involve herself in local music singing with community choirs and at jams. Helping students develop a meaningful understanding of music and learning together about its rich history is what Juliana loves most about teaching. Through singing, she believes that we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and find a unique and fulfilling community.
